In the fall and winter I find people do two things...
We all know when football season begins and cool weather arrives many find themselves watching TV and becoming a bit more sedentary.
And then some add their “winter weight!”

Also, during this time we ( I, as well) seem to neglect the exterior appearance of the house and yard!
Here in Florida you must still mow the grass throughout the winter while most of the country gets a bye! But for most, that is the extent of work!
As spring arrives, even if you are not selling your home, get off the couch, go outside and work on the landscaping, the curb appeal, add some paint and flowers.
You may not be selling but the guy next door or the lady down the street is…so help them out.
Who wants to buy in a neglected neighborhood?
By the way the picture of the guy is not me! I don't smoke!

That's the advantage of a long winter. After being cooped up for 4-6 months, we are dieing living to get out and do anything, yes even clean up the yard. And while we're at it maybe, just maybe, plant a few flowers. I think we enjoy them more when we don't see them for awhile.
Ken - Those long winters do make you ready to get outside and grab the sunshine and fresh air. I hope it comes soon for you all!
Are you SURE that's not you...... I never thought of our homes having put on winter weight too, but you do have a point. Come on SPRING!
Gary, I'm so ready to get off the couch and work in my garden. Our weather has been YUCK though. We had snow earlier this week; I thought I had landed in Colorado. Typically our only cold month is January but not so this year!!!!
Janna - There was a time when that possibly could have resembled me slightly..before I was stationed with the US Marine Corps for seven years! Semper Fi!
Marchel - Texas has had a rough year as well. It will be nice to return to normal! Thanks.
Hi Gary! Well, I'm right there with you--not being outdoors really does add a few pounds each winter! By the time it's lost, it's winter again--I never can gain advantage on that one!
I have driven through several neighborhoods lately and thought of sending post cards out to remind residents (by way of a tip list) how to keep their values up during the housing downturn. Exterior maintenance and landscaping are two tips that I was going to address. You should send a post card to your farm with this information! Good stuff!
Have a wonderful Sunday...
Thanks, Debe. I may just send this out with some tips. May just get a local landscaping/nursery to go in with me and make it a big effort!
Great idea, Gary. That's what I love about this network--that idea has been running around in my mind for a while now and you gave me the push to actually do it AND a way to help fund it! You're awesome!
Thanks, Debe. Good luck!
