I will admit I rise a bit earlier than most folks. As a real estate agent I have found that people do not buy or sell houses in Brevard County, Florida before about 10:00 a.m.
So I have some quiet time. Time for my morning walk with my Boston Terrier, Diesel Dog!
I usually skip breakfast but this morning I decided I wanted something. As I opened the refrigerator I saw the leftover salad from the evening before.
So I grabbed it.
How do we know that salad can’t be for breakfast?
Individual preferences are…..individual. Such is the same when decorating your home.
But, when it is time to sell it, remember that you are not selling your taste.
Your real estate agent and/or home stager can help make recommendations on getting your home ready to appeal to the masses instead of the individual!

Great analogy, Gary! I saw an over priced listing the other day...with very "artistic" colors throughout the home. My daughter would love bright green, mandarin orange, or turquoise walls...but I and the general public would not!!
Sonja - Thanks. Remembering who our target is makes us successful!
Different strokes for different folks. When I worked nights in the newspaper, sometimes I would have a complete meal, meat, veggies, and potatoes for breakfast. One time when I got home at 7 AM I went to the local candy store, (remember them?) and got a banana split. People looked at me like I was crazy.
I do like the analogy.....how you live is generally not how you sell. I've staged 2 homes for fellow stagers...all of us have blinds on when it comes to our homes and need that trained unbiased eye!
As much as I like salads, breakfast provides the protein nourishment to get the day going...what you eat tells a lot about who you are and how you work...Have a good day...Cherise
I'm going to use that analogy when talking with sellers.
Ken - A little variety is good for the soul...and the belly!
Kathy - We always see ourselves in a different light than a neutral third party. Thanks.
Cherise - Oh I prefer meat (protein, right?) but the salad called! I understand nutrition but sometimes I falter. Thanks.
David - Thanks. Hope you make the point..maybe dress it up a bit (get the pun...)!
Gary -- good point .... the more "unique" a seller's home is, the harder it will be to appeal to the target buyer!
If it's NOT the home that you will live in forever it has to be as neutral as possible. When buying a home you're buying it for you and the "next" buyer.
Salad for breakfast sounds great to me! But then, I'm not stuck on any one thing for breakfast. Excellent analogy.
Gary,
I couldn't agree more with you.
Variety is a spice of life !
I used to eat lunch for breakfast and sometimes even dinner,so what ? Very often I eat breakfast for supper and I feel good.

Eva - Variety is what gives the ho-hum days a kick...thanks.
Sharon - Thanks. Beats chocolate cake..had that before as well!
Robert - Good perspective. Thanks.
Maureen - "Unique" is definitely not always a good trait when you are trying to sell. Thanks.
Gary, Good for you - nothing better than taking that "ME" time for yourself each day. For me, it keeps me energized and focused (but I am not an early riser, like you), I do it in the early evenings. Salad for breakfast??? I guess that's better than cold pizza for breakfast. lol
Hi Gary! Very clever! I love the analogy but, I don't think I could go for salad for breakfast! (individual preference!!) I'm a cereal girl--IF I eat breakfast and as you know, it's the best meal of the day for us but, most often the one that is skipped!
Have a great day...
Sandy - Thanks. I have had them both..cold pizza~
Debe - I usually skip it too. I guess on some mornings I get up so early it is really an early lunch!
