Just because one can climb a ladder does not mean they should go on the roof....unless they are Santa Claus.
Do it yourself repairs should be left to those who know how to do it themselves. And watching HGTV every Saturday morning is not being schooled!

I feel sorry for some folks. Having to write about the same ol' same ol' day in and day out. Having to come up with new and different material every day has to be challenging.
Home inspectors are really lucky. We never run out of things to write about. All we need to do is look through the pictures of our last job and "Voila". Another blog post.
Thankfully, there are enough unhandy handymen out in the real world to earn us a living and keep us amused. I do not see anything that is right with this installation. It is installed backwards, the sides of the boot flashing have not been overlapped by the shingles, and there is no reason that the boot seal against the vent pipe to be sealed with tar. What can I say? Bubba, you're an idget...
